Reza Aslan and Andrea Cockrum joins CFGU Board of Advisors
Torrance, January 6, 2009- The Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) is proud to announce that Reza Aslan and Andrea Cockrum has joined our board of advisors.
Reza Aslan:
Reza Aslan, an internationally acclaimed writer and scholar of religions, is a fellow at the University of Southern California's Center on Public Diplomacy and Middle East and an Analyst for CBS News.
Mr. Aslan is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities, and the Pacific Council on International Policy. Aslan's first book is the New York Times Best selling, No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, has been translated into thirteen languages. His next book, How to Win a Cosmic War will be published by Random House in April of 2009.
Andrea Cockrum:
Andrea Cockrum is the Chief Executive Officer of the Fulfillment Fund. Prior to the Fulfillment Fund, Ms. Cockrum served 10 years at UCLA as the Executive Director of The Early Intervention Program for Developmentally Handicapped Children. Preceding that she was an executive at United Airlines for 13 years. Currently, she is the President of the Board of the New Designs Charter School in Central Los Angeles.
Ms. Cockrum served on the Los Angeles Mayor’s Education Advisory Council and the council’s Subcommittee on Strategic Alliances, working with many public and private organizations to provide mentoring, tutoring and quality education to thousands of Los Angeles students. Ms. Cockrum also served on the Board of the Women’s Leadership Council, the Merrill Lynch Women’s Advisory Council and on United Way’s Task Force focusing on women’s issues in Southern California.
