Private Funding:

The Center for Global Understanding has partnered with The Washington Center (TWC) to offer financial assistance to the students above and beyond what is available through TWC's regular funding sources.

The Washington Center is able to offer selected students financial assistance from a number of private sources. All of the awards listed below are competitive in nature.

The Center for Global Understanding Scholarships for Muslim American Students (Muslim American Scholars Initiative):

Muslim American students are eligible to be considered for partial program/housing scholarships during the summer term through a partnership established between TWC, the Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) and the El Hibri Charitable Foundation. Students also participate in special supplemental programming (called the Public Affairs Series) throughout the summer. Interested applicants should use TWC's online application and specify interest in the initiative on the application. Selected students will receive a minimum of $5,000 toward the invoice for program and housing fees. Many past students have received larger awards (from states, TWC, and other private sources). Undergraduate and postgraduate students are equally encouraged to apply. Some placement restrictions are involved and non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible. Please contact Sara Biggs at with questions.

TWC Diversity Leaders Award:
